一、from表示的是“起点、来源”How do you get from here to Shanghai? （这儿是起点）I got the information from a friend of mine. (来源)

二、一件事情发生的起点——原因I felt much too tired from the long walk to the town. (from表示疲劳的起点——原因)The man died from starvation. (因饥饿而死)He suffered from a big loss of money. (suffer的原因是a big loss of money)You can benefit a lot from the building of the bridge.

三、既然是起点，应该就是“离开，不在”了His absence from the meeting caused much anger. (表示离开，不在)I’m afraid that he is now away from home at present.( 不在，离开)
